Ear Defenders

Folding 28.5dB Ear Defenders

I went to screwfix to test out some ear defenders to go towards my degree show I ideally want complete silence to enforce my idea of sensory deprivation of hearing to en hence and effect my viewer in the way I want. But with further research this seems to be impossible to create a completely silent environment in the conditions of my space. Nowhere is completely silent. ".....forgetting death alone is silent and life is full of noise-work noise, human noise, animal noise.Noise brought, sold or prohibited.Nothing essential happens in the abscent of noise."

I have been reading a chapter in this book called Noise and Silence to improve my knowledge of how noise can effect us. Background noise gives people a sense of security so to block this out for even a few minutes could effect people negatively.

Pipilotti Rist - Colour is dangerous

Watching an interview with Rist really helped explain her processes of work and developed my work further. How she shows the painterly qualities and explains colour has helped push my conceptual thinking further. Pipilotti Rist is a big influence of my work.

Conversations with Louis ( Life Drawing)

I have started conversations with Louis who runs the life drawing at Antwerp Mansion. She runs life drawing of a different kind with a wide range of themes from body painting to fancy dress and Japanese bondage. In this event Louis is inviting the drawers to become the models for a pose of 10 minutes. As she was inviting people to get involved I wanted to get involved in my on way by taking my interventions/small sculptures out of the art building into a different environment to see how I could push them further.
I want the models to take inspiration from the shapes form by the tension and balance, with the curves and lines of shapes.

Degree show space

This is the space I have been given for my degree show there is many changes I am going to do to make it suitable for my piece. There will be a floor, roof and painted black and new sidewall to make it narrower. I will make a narrower entrance with side boards and then a beam, then the door is blackout material. The projectors will housed on shelves. The floor will painted black , and am aiming to cancel out any light pollution. I am looking at ways to cancel out noise disturbance as well with ear defenders/noise cancellation equipment. As there is other students video installations with sound involved which I don't want to take away from my visual stimulas

Data projectors

For my degree show piece I have put in the request to use these projectors in my show piece. Out of all the projectors I have used in the AV store at uni these are the ones that project the biggest screens with the clearest colours and definition. They will be housed on shelves on either side of the entrance off the floor and above the heads of the viewers this is to make sure there is minimal shadow interference on the screen when people enter and then they will sit down on the cushions.
